NYCOUTURE BRIDAL PHOTOGRAPHY: The Story
I started NYCouture Bridal Photography, as a way to bring my unique and distinct bridal photography to the place, I will always call home. Growing up in Forest Hills, Queens New York it is the place I will always call home. Forest Hills was were I was born and raised until around 2001, when I decided Florida would be the best place to start a career and start a family. As luck would have it, I would return to passion of photography that began when I was around 16. Moving to Florida was a big move for me, since I was so very close to my parents. I chose a career in law enforcement where I was a police officer for 10 years. A sequence of events would take me on to another journey in my life as a Firefighter/Paramedic.
NYCOUTURE BRIDAL PHOTOGRAPHY: It all Began
To make a very long story short, I had a colleague at my police department that happened to come to my home back in 2001. He saw some photos of mine on my computer screen at the time. I had been uploading images I had taken with my family and I was sorting them. He asked, who had take the pictures for me and I told him it was me. The next day, he asked me to photograph his wedding. There was no way I could photograph his wedding, since I had never done one. Mind you, I had taken classes in high school, college and read everything possible photography related. He kept begging me and I finally gave in and said, I would do it. Agreeing to photograph someones wedding without any experience was nerve wracking. I then set off to research bridal photography and made several discoveries.
NYCouture Bridal Photography: Discovery
While researching wedding photography I learned about all these amazing European wedding photographers, who were creating wedding images that were dynamic, stylish and above all told a story. I discovered Yervant and Jerry Ghionis, who’s images were beyond amazing. This style of wedding photography was something I could get into and learn. I studied their work and used their style as my foundation for how I would like my images to appear.
In the course of learning about wedding photography in preparation for my friends wedding, I also discovered Roberto Valenzuela, Joe Buissink, Cliff Moutner and David Beckstead. These four american wedding photographers also told amazing stories with their wedding pictures. I had about 5 months of preparation and I was determined to do and incredible job on my first wedding.
NYCouture Bridal Photography: First Wedding 2006
So my first wedding is fast approaching and I am mentally preparing. This first wedding is taking place at The Diplomat Golf Resort & Spa, Hallandale Beach with 100 + guests. The Diplomat is a pretty high end wedding venue, and it was my first. I was beyond nervous as I met with my friend to capture the getting ready shots with the guys, before heading over the brides suite to photographer her and the bridesmaids. Fast forward several hours and the wedding ceremony began. I captured every moment of the ceremony and made sure I captured the first kiss. I was incredibly nervous and anxious, but I made it through my first wedding day.
NYCouture Bridal Photography: A new beginning
My first wedding was truly a nerve wracking experience, but I realized how much I loved it. It was the moment I had finished editing all the wedding images that I realized Bridal Photography was something I would like to do full time. It was several weeks later when I started receiving calls from my friends family and guests asking for me to photograph their weddings. So I began photography weddings occasionally and in 2008 officially launched at a business as Couture Bridal Photography.
NYCouture Bridal Photography: Return to New York City and Long Island
Fast forward to 2017 and Couture Bridal Photography is one of the top Bridal Photography studios in Florida and among the top wedding photography studios in the country. I’ve photographed weddings in Puerto Rico, Boston, New York City, Denver, Charleston, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Connecticut, North Carolina, Cartagena and Texas just to name a few. My desire to photograph weddings in New York more frequently over came me and I launched NYCouture Bridal Photography, as my marketing vehicle to meet couples in New York and Long Island who want amazing wedding photography at affordable prices.
NYCouture Bridal Photography: Standing out from NYC & Long Island Wedding Photographers
To stand out from NYC & Long Island Bridal Photographers, I had to consider what couples in New York look for in a wedding photographer. New Yorkers are a different breed of people and have different expectations than couples in New Jersey, California or Connecticut. New Yorkers expect excellence in the services and products they pay for and use.
I launched NYCouture Bridal Photography with seven things in mind to stand out among Wedding Photographers in New York City and Long Island:
- Spectacular story telling Bridal Photography
- The most artistic Bridal Photography for the money
